About

An honest publication about gear that lasts.

Good Gear Co is an independent publication covering bags, EDC, and tech carry. We test gear in the real world — not on a studio table — and write the kind of reviews we wish existed when we were trying to choose our first "good" bag.

Why we exist

Most bag coverage online is either thinly disguised affiliate filler or a 30-second unboxing. Neither helps you decide whether to spend $200 on a backpack you'll be wearing every day for the next five years.

We started Good Gear Co to fill that gap — to be the publication a careful buyer actually reads before clicking "add to cart." Long-term reviews. Head-to-head comparisons. Buyer's guides built on real testing, not press releases.

How we test

Every bag we feature has been carried for at least four weeks of daily use — often much longer. We track wear points, comfort under load, weather performance, and how the organization holds up once your gear is actually inside it.

How we make money

Good Gear Co is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site we may earn an affiliate commission — at no extra cost to you. We don't take payment for coverage and never have. If we wouldn't buy it ourselves, we don't recommend it.
